And The Winner Is...

Belleville Rendezvous has won the first BBC Four World Cinema Award, don't miss your chance to see it on the big screen as part of the 5th Keswick Film Festival. Brazilian drama City Of God won the audience award, picked by BBC4 viewers.

Another 'Keswick' film proved to be an award winner when Michael Winterbottom's In This World won The South Bank Show Award For Cinema.

BBC4 World Cinema Awards

A jury including Mike Figgis, Alex Cox and Robert Carlyle will select the winner of the BBC4 World Cinema Award tonight. All of the shortlisted films have been (or are to be) screened by the film club.

The shortlisted films are:

Spirited Away

Post Film Discussion

On Sunday (9th Nov) we're going to have our first post-film discussion, about Russian Ark. Chris Pilling has kindly volunteered to 'chair' it, and we envisage about 20 minutes of talk about the film in the cinema for those who want to stay on.

Free Screening

In recognition of the valued support from the local community, Keswick Film Club are delighted to present a free screening of the cult smash Donnie Darko (Sunday 21st September 5.30pm)

The following week sees the offical start of the season with the stunning City Of God. Get to the Alhambra from 4.15pm for a celebratory glass of wine (or juice) before the film at 5.00pm.
