End of Season

Well that's another season of great films over with. Our audiences rated Whale Rider, Spirited Away, Elling and Goodbye Lenin the highest but don't forget you can vote for your favourite film of the season on this site.

And The Winner Is...

Belleville Rendezvous has won the first BBC Four World Cinema Award, don't miss your chance to see it on the big screen as part of the 5th Keswick Film Festival. Brazilian drama City Of God won the audience award, picked by BBC4 viewers.

Another 'Keswick' film proved to be an award winner when Michael Winterbottom's In This World won The South Bank Show Award For Cinema.

BBC4 World Cinema Awards

A jury including Mike Figgis, Alex Cox and Robert Carlyle will select the winner of the BBC4 World Cinema Award tonight. All of the shortlisted films have been (or are to be) screened by the film club.

The shortlisted films are:

City Of God
Etre et avoir
Good Bye Lenin!
The Man Without a Past
Spirited Away

New Programme

The new programme is now available here. We start again on 11th January - at 4.45 pm if you'd like to meet over a glass of wine, at 5.30 pm for Whale Rider.

Post Film Discussion

On Sunday (9th Nov) we're going to have our first post-film discussion, about Russian Ark. Chris Pilling has kindly volunteered to 'chair' it, and we envisage about 20 minutes of talk about the film in the cinema for those who want to stay on.
